Startland partners with Belton School District on Design Thinking

Startland team members Haley Hurst, Adam Surrey, and Christina Hocker recently led a workshop for teachers in the Belton School District. Over the course of three days, the group used design thinking exercises to challenge their perspective of the educational experience.

The goal of these exercises was to assess the student experience in Belton and create a plan for implementing a human-centered approach to education. The workshop equipped faculty and staff throughout the district with the tools to introduce more project-based learning into Belton’s classrooms.

Key Takeaways

We really love the design thinking process because it offers an actual framework that is really easy to follow. We have been talking for years about project-based learning, and it’s been this thing that’s loosely defined. This process really gives us a structured framework that we can implement.”

- Scott Sisemore, Director of Academies, Belton School District
